Pretty In Pink…The Mantel by Decor Chick

A friend of mine is a soul right out of the Victorian era and she jumped at my suggestion of doing her mantle up like a mini garden. So there you go get the plants and flower pots from around your house and set up the mantel with a staggering arrangement of flowers. Some in vases can do wonders. Add flowering branches leaning out from the mantle, creepers curtaining the fireplace, dogwood perhaps, cherry viburnum or lilac and certainly don’t leave out the deep red roses. A miniature bonsai pot can make it special and then just a few sets of photo frames to give it an emotional dimension.

Rose Wreath (Big Lots – $10), “BE MINE” sign (Home Goods – $5.00), embossed glass candle holder (a gift – free!), white candle holders (already had these, but also picked them up on clearance – all 3 for under $10) and finally, one bunch of silk roses (Michael’s – $5), which I removed some flowers & also individual petals  from the stems… came together to help me create a budget-minded, yet beautiful mantel for the official holiday of hearts -

I love the layered simplicity of how the mantel turned out.  I kept the background {old window and vintage ceiling tile} that I used for my Christmas mantel and I switched out the printer’s drawer for another one that is a bit lighter. My hubs and I dug out the V-day decor out from last year and I had a blast making it work on the mantel!

For Laurie’s Valentine Party today, I’m showing our mantel all decorated for the holiday. Actually, it’s only partially decorated, as I was unable to run around today due to all of our snow! I had planned to go out and buy fresh tulips and some urns I had been eyeing at Michael’s. Oh well! We’ll just make do today.
