Up to the Minute Mini Home Trends: The Pouf

With a ridiculous name like “the pouf”, you would think that decorating had turned into magic tricks. While that may be partially true for some, this trend is one that keeps the “fun” in function. Part coffee table, part footstool, part ottoman for extra seating, this little concoction adds a lot of punch to a room.

We used to look at smaller footstools as space fillers and small seating. Now, the pouf has taken on new meaning with the addition of trims, buttons, outrageous fabrics, and unexpected shapes. Every upholstery company has one, and can barely keep up with the demand. A few of my favorites:

Up To The Minute Home Trends 2009 - Dakota Jackson’s Tofu Ottoman

Dakota Jackson’s Tofu Ottoman – maybe not enough to make you hungry, but the shape will make you smile. The four stainless steel legs and a rotating base make this a little seat fun for everyone.

Up To The Minute Home Trends 2009 - Arterior Home’s Hugo Patchwork

Arterior Home’s Hugo Patchwork Cowhide pouf. Available in black and white or brown and white, this guy will blend in nicely with any style. Cute enough to pet.

Up To The Minute Home Trends 2009 - Aqua Creation’s Anana and Bubbles Poufs

Aqua Creation’s Anana and Bubbles poufs. I am amazed by the designs of this company. The use of materials is arty and functional at once, and the shapes are mesmerizing. For those who like the unusual.
