After more than 10 years as a successful interior designer, Tamara Magel has shifted her energy in an exciting new direction.
With the opening of her showroom in January 2011, she will now focus on the edgy yet sophisticated Tamara Magel Collection.
Located in Soho, the 2000 square foot space is a complete source for furniture, rugs, lighting, textiles, and accessories. A mix of classic lines and balanced textures with an urban flair, Tamara’s approach is global-chic that is artfully curated. Sensual shapes dominate and intense pops of colors are the accent throughout.
Tamara Magel’s aesthetic is unexpected yet refreshing, and can best be described as mod and exotic with international influence. Inspired by runway couture, current fashion has played an important role in her home collection, but Tamara is also influenced by vintage style.
Originally from upstate New York, Tamara received a B.S. from Boston University’s school of management, and studied Interior Design at the Corcoran School of Art. Leaving a lucrative career in finance in the 1990s, Tamara always knew her passion was design.
Tamara Magel has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, the New York Times and other notable publications.
On the board of directors for NEST, an organization that helps female artisans emerge from poverty, Tamara has a strong belief in empowering women. Tamara Magel is currently developing a program that will use the talents and skills of women in other countries, creating jobs, instilling pride in their communities and making a difference.
