In the Design World of Laura Kirar
Based in New York and Miami, fast-paced designer, Laura Kirar, is achieving great success and says she’s enjoying shuttling between the two polar-opposite cities and the lifestyles they have to offer.
She combines home product development with interior design through Laura Kirar TRU Design. She’s designed the interiors of upscale homes, as well as acclaimed commercial projects that include showrooms, hotels and fine restaurants.
Kirar joined Holly Hunt after earning a degree in interior architecture from the Art Institute of Chicago. Before her meteoric rise in the world of furniture, she took her design destiny into her own hands, literally.

Not one to stand idly by and just let things happen, when the designer wanted to create great furniture she chose to spend time learning from commercial furniture makers, alongside them as they worked. Both Baker and McGuire, and ultimately the consumer seeking fine furniture, have benefited from her hard work and diligence.
Joining Polo Ralph Lauren Home Collection in New York, she designed tabletop accessories and flatware. Kirar founded her company in 1999 and was named one of America’s Top Young Designers by House Beautiful in 2003.
According to 1st Dibs, Kirar enjoys the distinction of being the only designer to hold concurrent licenses with Ann Sacks, Baker, McGuire and Kallista—the four Kohler Interiors Companies.

Intrigued by the process as much as the achievement of her life goals, Kirar has taken on a diverse group of projects this year, included a townhouse in Brooklyn, a house in Southern California and a yacht club in an international city.
Her TRUDesign website sums up the genius of Lara Kirar:
“A designer with the soul of an artist, Laura completed her degree in sculpture and interior architecture at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her passion for artistic exploration in numerous mediums has continued to infuse her work with originality and thoughtful attention to detail.”
