A designer with the soul of an artist.
Laura completed her degree in sculpture and interior architecture at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her passion for artistic exploration in numerous mediums has continued to infuse her work with originality and thoughtful attention to detail.
Even as Baker calls their Laura Kirar Collection a “marriage of vintage, antique and modern pieces,” the entire range of her designs seems somehow fresh and up-to-date. This collection consists of the entire range of pieces from upholstered sofas, chairs and chaises to a small selection of occasional tables and chests. As would be expected from a designer who began her career with a lighting design, the lighting pieces are lovely, widely varied and include chandeliers, floor lamps, sconces and table lamps.
Laura’s designs maintain an elegant balance, effectively mixing a modernist sensibility with classic details and proportons. “My interiors are more curated than designed. As pieces are selected the interior unfolds to reflect the shared vision of me and my client. Inspiration is born from y experiences traveling, my love of collecting and my passion for art, nature, music, books and in particular, the compelling interactions had with people and places.
“My works are certainly Influenced by my travels. The impressions and memories I take away from each place leave their indelible marks throughout my works, subtly invoking not only the destinations, but the journey.” The Laura Kirar Collection - Baker Furniture
