ALEXANDER MCQUEEN AND THE RUG COMPANY

Modern Area Rugs

The Rug Company has established itself as a collaborative force with the fashion industry as clothing designers continue to explore ways to diversify and thus expand and enhance their portfolios. Trickily this now includes the deceased Alexander McQueen and his singular style, complete with skulls, feathers and other typically McQueen motifs. As with the Rug Company’s earlier collaborations with designers as diverse as Diane von Furstenberg, Alice Temperley and Paul Smith, the result is a smoothly supple series of six rugs, all designed to highlight an interior while gesturing to its creatively inspired source.

The trickiness of the McQueen collection is the enhanced fetishistic nature of the rugs due to the designer’s death.  Still, the work is beautiful, luxurious, brilliantly executed and thus, worth a look.
